Using this information your healthcare provider can create the treatment plan that’s right for you. MedAIRE tracks the level of fermentation happening in your small and large intestine. Fermentation happens when your gut bacteria breakdown undigested food. Tracking it allows your healthcare provider to detect the presence of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and carbohydrate malabsorption. SIBO TESTING: SIBO is when you have greater amounts of bacteria than normal in your small intestine. When these bacteria breakdown undigested food, hydrogen and other gases are generated. Fermentation normally happens later in your large intestine. But when it happens sooner it may trigger digestive symptoms. CARBOHYDRATE MALABSORPTION TESTING: Carbohydrate malabsorption occurs when the body is unable to fully digest or absorb certain food components.
